Cabra Family Resource Centre is a community-led organisation rooted in the heart of Cabra, Dublin 7. We exist because families matter, and because every person who walks through our door deserves to be met with warmth, respect, and a genuine belief in their strength and potential.
We are not a service that does things to people. We are a community that works with people, walking alongside families through the challenges of everyday life, and celebrating with them when things go well. We see the whole person, not the problem. We start from what is strong, not what is wrong.
From therapeutic support and counselling to community programmes, sensory play, parent and child groups, and practical assistance, everything we do is shaped by one simple conviction: that every family in Cabra has what it takes to thrive, and that our job is to help them discover and build on that.
We are funded by Pobal under the Family Resource Centre Programme, and we are proud to be part of a national network of 121 Family Resource Centres serving communities across Ireland. But first and foremost, we are yours, a centre built by this community, for this community, in this community.
To walk alongside the families of Cabra, offering the right support, at the right time, in the right way, grounded always in respect for the dignity, strength, and potential of every person we meet.
A Cabra where every child, family, and individual feels valued, connected, and supported to live the life they want to live, where community is a strength, not a safety net, and where no one faces their hardest moments alone.
Every decision we make starts with the same question: what is best for the people we serve? Not what is easiest, not what fits the system, what is best for this person, this family, right now.
We practise Advantage Thinking, an approach that starts from what is working, what people are good at, and what they already bring to the table. We do not define people by their difficulties. We help them build on their strengths.
Every person who comes to Cabra FRC is treated with unconditional positive regard. We do not judge. We do not rank. We do not make anyone feel small. Everyone, regardless of their circumstances, is welcomed with the same warmth and respect.
We believe in the power of community. When people come together, to share, to support, to celebrate, to challenge , extraordinary things happen. Our centre is a place where a community is built every day, one connection at a time.
We believe in getting there early, before crises, before breaking points, before people have nowhere else to turn. Our doors are open to everyone, regardless of whether they are in crisis or simply looking for connection, learning, or support.
We say what we mean and we do what we say. We are accountable to the families we serve, to our funders, and to our community. We hold ourselves to high standards, not because we have to, but because the people we serve deserve nothing less.
We listen, really listen, to the people we work with. Children, young people, parents, carers, older people, everyone has a voice here, and every voice shapes what we do.
We want our community to thrive so we work around these pilars
